  17. <p>     Merly Streep could portray anyone from Madonna to Mother
  18. Teresa -- probably even in Hindi. Lately the gifted screen
  19. chameleon has landed in too many flicks that quickly turn to
  20. flops. That is likely to change, though, with Streep's casting
  21. in the film version of Isabel Allende's mystical novel The House
  22. of the Spirits. Beating out Geena Davis and most of Tinseltown's
  23. A-list, Streep takes on the unique challenge of playing a woman
  24. who ages from 18 to 60.
